EYES are happy to announce the dates of the up-coming shows in April
and May 2011, headlining the tour with special guest MIDNATTSOL, as well
as being direct support for TARJA. At Nachtleben in Frankfurt the
official release party of the new album “Meredead” will take place with
some specials for the fans. More news soon!

Singer Liv comments: “Both tours are just perfect for the release of our
fourth full-length album “Meredead”. Firstly, I will finally share
stage with my sister, Carmen Elise Espenaes/Midnattsol, which is like a
dream coming true. Secondly, it’s a great honor for us to go on tour
with our friends and support TARJA TURUNEN and her outstanding band! We
are really looking forward to this. It will truly be a special
experience for our fans and us!”

Own Words - Kråkevisa (Folkevise fra Hardanger, Norwegian traditional folklore)

Kråkevisa (The Crow Song), also called Mannen og Kråka (The Farmer and the Crow), is a traditional folklore in the genre Scandinavian medieval ballads. I know it from primary school as we used to sing it in the school’s choir. There are different versions in Norway, which also uses other melodies. It is one of the best known folk tunes in my home country, however, it is also well-known in Sweden, Denmark and across the Faeroe Island. It’s interesting that Kråkevisa is said to be related to 'Hákun Ríður Í Timburskóg', the Faeroese children’s rhyme.

Let me translate Kråkevisa’s first verse; first the Norwegian version, then the English one:

Og mannen han gjekk seg i vedaskog,
Hei fara, i vedaskog.
Då sat der ei kråka i lunden og gol.
Hei fara, faltu riltu raltura.

The man went into the firewood forest
Hei fara, to the firewood forest
There he heard crowing from the grove
Hei fara, faltu riltu raltura

What happens to the crow in the following verses, I guess is not hard to imagine, for it’s definitely not a romantic love story! However, the end is what makes real sense to me personally. The message is: A man is not worth a crow if he doesn’t realize its value. In a modern sense, I see clearly a connotation to the unfair, insane, money-controlled meat-industry, versus those peoples, like the Aborigines and the Eskimos, who are able to survive only because they have inherited knowledge over generations about fair trade with and careful treatment of Nature.

Le nouvel album est pas mal mais je trouve qu'il y a trop de reprises, puis j'aurai bien aimé voir une photo de la deuxième chanteuse dans l'album...
Mais Leaves'Eyes reste quand même un super groupe, c'est un des premiers groupes de métal que j'ai connu grâce à une amie Smile

Felix Born - New LEAVES' EYES Drummer!

LEAVES' EYES are proud to welcome Felix Born in the band!

Unfortunately, Roland Navratil had to leave for private reasons, we wish him all the best for the future!

Felix: "I am really happy to announce that I am the new drummer of LEAVES' EYES. As I got the offer to do a jam session with the band I was highly motivated, because I love their music. The combination of grooves and nice melodies is exactly what I appreciate being a drummer. During the jam session I realized the fact that I wanted the job even more, because I felt very comfortable with the whole band. I am really happy about joining LEAVES' EYES and I am looking forward to seeing you all on the road soon!"

Liv: "Felix convinced me straight away through his way of playing, for both LIV KRISTINE as well as for LEAVES' EYES. He is a highly talented drummer, probably one of the greatest talents in Germany, in the studio as well as on stage. He is a fresh breath to our music."
